- Argentina: Travelers can get by on $25-$35 a day, or you can spend more and stay in great hotels and eat gourmet meals for $50-$100 per day for a couple. Argentina is better for singles or young couples than for families, as dinner is served at 10:00pm and natives party late into the morning.
- Honduras’ Roatan Island: This island has beautiful scenery, and lacks the crime that is on Honduras proper. Rooms are $10-$200, and a great meal is $15.
- Mexico: Straying from overpriced resort towns, one can travel cheaply for $40-$75 a day, and for a slightly higher price, $60-$150 a day. There are beaches and a Copper Canyon train trip for families. There are many pretty, colonial cities for the older travelers and families in the middle interior of the country.
- Malaysia: A great place to travel in Asia with children, Malaysia is slightly more Westernized than other locations, and the water is generally drinkable. There are beaches, jungles, and temples. Outside the cities, the cost might be $15 a day, and $30 in the cities.
- Morocco: After leaving Tangier and Marrakech, enjoy camel rides, mountain hikes, and desert walks. A couple with a small budget can manage $30-$50 a day, and those who can spend a bit more will have more comfort with $40-$80 a day.
- Peru: There are Incan ruins and Amazon rain forests, as well as whitewater rafting. Restaurants charge $1-$5 a plate, and you can sleep for $20-$50 a night.
- Thailand: Some of the best hotels in the world are in Thailand, and they run only about $200 a night, or you can get a beach bungalow for $20 a night. Shopping is also great, and well made clothing runs $80-$150. This location is good for singles, couples, and families.
- Turkey: Visitors can stare at Roman ruins and Byzantine art, as well as Ottoman palaces, and ancient churches. A couple can spend $60-$100 a day and get a hotel and 3 meals.
