Travel insurance protects the investment of your trip, namely cruises and trips abroad. While traveling, there are a variety of problems that you may encounter, including an illness shortly before or during the trip, a family member at home that requires attention, or a natural disaster. If any of these situations occur and you have to postpone, cancel, or cut short your trip, very often a lack of travel insurance will leave you with either a small refund or no refund at all. With insurance, however, the providing company will often, depending on your package, arrange for transportation and a refund if your trip has already started, or give you a full refund if you must cancel right before you leave. Before you travel anywhere, check on your medical and dental insurance and verify what coverage you have when traveling. Also, if you take a cruise that offers its own insurance package, make sure that it covers the entire vacation, and not merely the time onboard.
